Fred Lindley, 74-year-old lifetime resident of this community [Cates], died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at his home here. Cause of death was pneumonia. Mr. Lindley had been a barber here the past 53 years and had operated a business here longer than any other man. He was born here Feb. 22, 1884, the son of Miles and Jane Printy Lindley. He was married to Icy Parrett of Mellott. They were married Dec. 17, 1904. Mr. Lindley was a member of the EUB Church and Modern Woodmen Lodge of Cates. Survivors include the wife; a son, Bernard Lindley of Cates; two daughters, Mrs. Fay Cole of Attica and Mrs. Reba Mc Keighan of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Dillman of Frankfort; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four children. Funeral rites are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the EUB Church here with Rev. Lawrence West in charge. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Friends may pay their respects at Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro. Interment will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.  --Typed by Debby Masterson.
